A survey conducted by the Shanghai Labor Daily shows that less than 30 percent of the young
women interviewed have confidence in marrying foreigners.
Recently, one foreigner claimed in his weblog that he had numerous love affairs with Chinese girls while teaching English in Shanghai. This has triggered heated discussions of cross-cultural love affairs and marriage in the city.
The paper reports that, of the women interviewees, 90 percent say the main reason they date foreign men is curiosity towards foreign culture, while 66 percent say they believe cross-cultural marriages cannot last long.
